I'm skeered!

Well, I've finally bit the bullet and agreed to go dress shopping next week. Jen and I are going to partner up and tear through San Francisco next Tuesday.

Did you know that you need to make appointments to visit most of these places? (Ok, did I just reveal my utter cluelessness about wedding stuff?!) Needless to say, I've got a lot of dress research to do before our big shopping extravaganza!

We're going to the Bridal Galleria, Haute Bride... then the day gets a little hazy to me after that... but the crowning piece will be our visit to The Glamour Closet. I'm totally excited about this place and had read about it before I even knew I was going to get a chance to go there. This is a place that sells brand new designer wedding gowns that happened to be samples. This means big discounts on fabulous dresses!

I can't wait to hang out with Jen, and I fully expect the dress hunt to be adrenalizing and demoralizing all at the same time.

Anything else I should know before I go?

You should know that men, for some reason, aren't allowed...and yet tomorrow i'm going to deb's final fitting. take that, gender roles!

Well, I think that's bunk. I'm seriously surprised at how segregated this whole wedding thing is.

Did you know that the expectation is that I do most of the planning?

Chris is way too involved for that to be the case!

Don't even get me started on the whole name change thing. That's a topic for a whole separate blog!

But I really don't see what's wrong with going to pick out your dress with your honey?!

Bizzaro world!

Hi, found your blog on indie bride - My advice is break after each store for drinks. A nice buzz makes the price tag bearable.

Sage advice Marci! Maybe we should be toting a flask?!

flask: duly noted. pick your poison? if you leave it up to me, you'll be sipping tequila. :)

Oh god, no tequila! Tequila and I have a very troubled past together...

If I had my druthers we'd be doing Jager shots, but then I'd be violating Jager pro. I'm trying to think of a good sipping alcohol. What about spiced rum, like the Captain?

My sisters friends brought a traveling bar they called the "toolkit". She had infused Sake with Cucumbers - YUM.

For my wedding dress shopping, they brought a travel cooler with the mini champaign bottles - I must admit, I looked FABULOUS after a couple of those champaign bottles!

not to be the practical sister to put a damper on things, but you had better be sober when you pick a dress. Remember, you actually have to wear it for the wedding and you are psying big bucks to look good for posterity in your pictures. Some places provide champagne and well, if I were you, I would leave it at that!

I should add to my signature "Practical Sandie, aka mom"

Oh, don't worry... I was very sober!

New things I learned today...
1. Wear flip flops. It was the best decision of the day.
2. Bring Jen. That was the other best decision of the day.
3. Bring thumb drive so you can get pics off Jen's camera!
